Just Chillin

Hey folks.  Just wanted to stop by and let you know I haven't forgotten about you.  I've been busy working on the ebay project and decided to take a few days....OK maybe more like a week.....off from scrapbooking and card making.  I've heard rumors there's a new challenge starting for the month of September at http://www.apronstringsdesigns.blogspot.com/ and I'm ready to go after this little break!  Hope to see ya back here soon!

Bloom

Well, the weekends almost here.  Do you have any crafty plans?  I plan to work on a few cards, but I don't have any big crafty projects to dig into.  I do have to figure out the best way to sell items on ebay.  My Mom and I have decent size collections of Longaberger baskets that we have been collecting for years, but, due to storage issues, we have decided to reduce our collections.  So my big plans for the weekend are to get photos taken, decide on pricing and find purchase packing/shipping materials.  If anyone has any advice for ebay selling, I would greatly appreciate it.

Enough of that, let's get on with what you really came here for.....

I used Old World Cabbage Stew from Jillibean Soup to show off a few pictures I took around the yard last summer.

First Grade

Hey everyone....did you survive Monday?  My past few Monday's have just been awful so I was really dreading yesterday.  Thankfully, it turned out to be just another regular day - kinda like a Tuesday (haha).

For today's layout, I used the Show and Tell line from We R Memory Keepers.  Perfect for Christopher's first grade school pic.  Lots of fall colors.  Thanks to all the layouts I've made lately, I've made a huge dent in my paper stash and I brought back tons of childhood pictures from my trip last weekend.  I'm working on sorting them out but the ideas are flowing....I can't wait to dig in.  See ya next time!

Happy Birthday Cupcakes

Hi all.  Did everyone have a nice weekend?  I was able to spend a little time with two of my favorite people and teach them a thing or two about Harry Potter.  We watched two of the films so they've now viewed the first four films in the series.  The Chamber of Secrets put us all to sleep and I forgot how much explaining there is to do with the third movie if they haven't read the books.  I also watched the final movie in the Millennium series, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.  I guess you could say I actually read the movie since it had English subtitles.  I'd read the first two books in the series before seeing the films, but I was a little worried about the third one since I haven't read the book, but I didn't have any trouble following along.

I wanted to post the birthday cards I sent out this week.  I saw these on Jess Larson's blog a while back and thought they were super cute.  I added a Happy Birthday banner to the front, and changed up the colors.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

It's a Bird, It's a Plane...

Ahhhh, Wednesday.  Only a couple more days till the weekend.  I'm heading out of town for a few days but I may sneak a few supplies in my bag and try to finish a layout or two while I'm gone.
Last fall I took the time to explore some of the local scenery.  I don't know about you, but I realized I was overlooking some photo opportunities that were practically in my backyard.  One of those somewhat local opportunities is Metropolis, IL - the home of Superman!  There's a huge statue in front of the police station so, of course, I had to stop and take a couple pics.

The Jenni Bowlin papers were the perfect color combo of blue, red and yellow.  Oops!  Just realized the journal card says 2011 instead of 2010 - gotta fix that!  Thanks for stopping by and spending a little time with me.  See ya soon.

Christopher 2008

Hi!  I just have a quick post for today of a layout I was working on last night.
I've had this paper for quite a while and just couldn't find any pictures that worked with it.  These are actually Christmas pictures of Christopher and his momma so don't look too close or you'll see the lights on the tree in the background with this totally un-Christmas paper!  There were four or five double sided patterned papers in this line but they almost blended too much.  I know that sounds kinda odd, but I was having a terrible time getting the layout to work. I'm pretty happy with the result, but it was not easy!  The only embellishments are the circles I punched from a couple of the papers.

My Buddy

Good afternoon, did everyone have a great weekend?  The weather has been perfect here.....sunshine and temps in the mid 80's with low humidity.  I've been driving around all weekend with the windows down and the sunroof open.  That's definitely a rarity for August.

I mentioned in my last post that I was going to work on birthday cards this weekend and I did, but I don't want to post them till the recipients have then in hand.

I used Bella Blvd's Super Stud papers for this picture of Christopher.  I cut the top note frame using my Gypsy and Cricut.  I haven't been using many die cuts lately and forgot how much they can add to a layout.  I also used one of my favorite color combo's - orange and blue!  Here's a close up shot.

I spent a little time today matching pictures with papers so I should have a few more layouts to show this week.  Till then......

Moving Day

Good Afternoon!  It's sooooo close to the weekend....I can't wait.....hopefully this headache I've had all week will go away.  But enough of that, there are pages to share!

For this layout, I used the Family Keepsake line from We R Memory Keepers.  I've moved quite a few times since I first left for college many moons ago.  I've moved in the heat of summer, the cold of winter, rain, snow flurries, down the road, two states away and with and without pets.  This is the first time I moved on a holiday.  Yep, New Year's Eve.  With six inches of snow on the ground.  Oh yeah, it was a Friday of a holiday weekend that no one wanted to be working anyway so getting utilities, internet and cable was a bigger hassle than usual.  I remember those first moves.......just the basics.  Pretty much everything was moved in a couple trips with a pickup truck.  This time, two trips with a 17 foot U-Haul truck.  We were exhausted.

I need to make a few birthday cards this weekend and I'm thinking something with sparkly cupcakes.  Come back and check it out.

Goodbye

Hi, thanks for joining me today.  The layout I'm sharing represent one of those odd little slices of life.....saying goodbye to the old so you can say hello to the new.  Now, to most people this is probably just a couch.  But for me, every time I look at that couch, I see Theo sleeping.  On the end, curled up in a ball, with his paws hanging off the edge (yet ready to jump up and bark at the mailman the very second he turns onto my street).  His spot.  It's been a few years since he was there, but that didn't make giving the couch away any easier.  So, without being any more dramatic, here it is.

I used Bella Blvd's Man of the House papers and Basic Grey alphas.  It's simple, but these little memories are what scrapbooking is all about.

I Do

Ugh, this has definitely been a Monday!  Cloudy and rainy, rude people at work, nothing in the fridge for dinner.....I'm ready to end this day and start fresh tomorrow.  But first I do have a layout to share.

I used Echo Park's Be Mine papers for these wedding pics.  These bridesmaid dresses always reminded me of Pepto Bismol, but the brides favorite color was (and still is) PINK!  You can tell it was the early 90's.....look at that hair!

August Christmas Cards

Hello all....As promised, the second Christmas card design I worked on yesterday.
Very simple, but I love the color combinations in the Winter Mittens line from Cosmo Cricket.  A little traditional with red and green but a little modern thrown in with purple and mint green.  I also used a small strip of the main pattern from the front of the card on the inside.

That's it for today.  I'm heading outside to do a little yard work clean up but the humidity may chase me back into the craft room for a layout a little later tonight.  I have a couple pictures and paper already picked out just waiting to be put together......Till next time.

July Christmas Cards

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.  The temp has cooled down in this neck of the woods from all the miserable 100+ temps and high humidity levels we were having.  I haven't been working on any scrapbook pages after all those I finished during July, but I have been purging/organizing my supplies.  With all the pages from July, I never worked on the monthly Christmas cards!  Completely forgot about them.  So I'm making up for it this weekend.  I made 8 cards this afternoon based on two different designs (one for July and one for August).  I'm showing the first one to y'all today and I'll post the second one tomorrow.

I love the layering on the tag, but it's not too thick so I can still send it through the mail.

See ya back here tomorrow with the second card!
