September Papertrey Blog Hop

Hello and Happy Tuesday everyone!  It’s the 25th which means it’s time for Papertrey Ink’s monthly bloghop. Can you believe we’re nearing the end of September already?  It seems like not so long ago we were waiting out the Spring rains so we could enjoy all the Summer outdoor activities. In the blink of an eye the trees will be bare and Winter will be moving into the neighborhood. The last three months of the year are so jam packed with things to do and see and plan and create, but it’s a lot of fun as well. Before we jump ahead to all things Holiday, let’s take a look at the inspiration for today’s hop.

The inspiration photo this month is a gorgeous table setting for an autumn get together. It’s all about gathering around the table with friends and family, warm and cozy colors and pumpkins.

Autumn Adornments is my favorite stamp set for this time of year, it’s so easy to create such beautiful garlands. The Cocoa Bean leafy vine was stamped twice, once in each corner, and flowers, leaves and pumpkins were added with an autumnal color palette of Terra Cotta, Harvest Gold, Pure Poppy and Summer Sunrise. The sentiment, from Autumn Pumpkins, was stamped in a coordinating color. The panel was then die cut with Scallop Stackers Small die and layered on a card base of one of the palette colors.

While all the supplies were out, I stamped a few extra panels playing around with the sentiment ink color and now have a little stack of cards ready to mail!

July Papertrey Blog Hop

Today’s the day. The 25th means it’s time for Papertrey’s blog hop. The inspiration photo is usually revealed right after all the new release festivities and I’m always excited to see what’s been chosen.  This month is all about creatures under the sea.

I love a blue and red color scheme and use it often but rather than under the sea, I went with something a little more sea adjacent, haha.

June Papertrey Blog Hop

Hello and happy June 25th to you!

The 25th means it’s time for Papertrey’s monthly blog hop and the inspiration photo is full of fruity summer goodness.

The gorgeous fruit was my inspiration for today’s card.

The watermelons and sentiment are from Fruit Fusion: Melon, County Fair for the florals and paisleys and a few stars from Celebrate With A Bang. The images were stamped in the juicy colors of Hibiscus Burst, New Leaf and Pure Poppy with a little Spring Rain for the stars.

This beautiful tablescape is our inspiration photo.

I was inspired by the hexagon pattern on the rug and I also wanted to incorporate the bow from the back of the chair.

The mason jar components are from Friendship Jar Fall Fillers and are colored with Copic markers. The bow is from Tinsel and Tags.  I also used the Linen and Canvas impression plate to add a little texture to the rustic cream card front.

Blog Hop for Dawn Part 2

Hello again,

One more card for Dawn before the hop ends. For this card I wanted to focus on Dawn’s love of color!

Blog Hop for Dawn

Good Morning friends,

Today begins a week long blog hop on Nichole Heady’s blog CAPTURE THE MOMENT  for Dawn McVey.  Dawn is one of the designers for Papertrey Ink and recently had transplant surgery. From all accounts she is on the road to recovery but has a lot of healing to do over the next 4-6 months. The hop is showcasing stamps and dies designed by Dawn, not only to show our love and appreciation but to provide a little bit of eye candy for her during recovery.

If you’ve followed Dawn on her blog or Instagram it quickly becomes apparent that she has a great love for her family, friends and faith. Also high on that list of loves is her love of flowers and she has been able to translate that love into beautiful floral stamps and dies.  It was difficult to choose which stamps to use so I ended up using three different sets.

I began by stamping the background with Basic Backgrounds: Sheet Music. I then die cut and stamped various images from Spruce and Sprigs. The sentiment, from Deck The Halls, is heat embossed on a strip of black cardstock. Then was able to play around with all the pieces until I found one I liked. At that point, the intention was to trim down the background piece slightly and mount it on a red cardbase. However, before I cut the red cardstock down to size I noticed how nice it looked layered on the full sheet of cardstock. So rather than a card, it’s now in a frame ready for Christmas decorating.

October Papertrey Bloghop

Hello crafty friends,

It's blog hop time with Papertrey Ink and this month's inspiration piece pushed me outside my comfort zone for sure. You can find the sketches HERE

I decided to play off the deep blues, reds and yellow that allow an image to really pop. I find it to be a tad haunting but am choosing to see it as a bright shining light in a sometimes dark world.

Can't wait to see how others interpreted the sketches.

September Papertrey Bloghop

Today I'm sharing a project for the monthly blog hop with Papertrey Ink. Here's a look at the inspiration piece.

I've been working on felt Christmas ornaments based on the 12 Days of Christmas so I already have birds on the brain: Partridges, Turtle Doves, French Hens and Colly Birds. I decided to make a companion card to go along with my latest partridge and pear ornaments.

The bird, leaf and banner die cut on the card are from Songbirds and the black background banner is from Basic Bookmarks 2. The sentiment is from Avery Elle. The patterned paper is a mix of Melon Berry, Summer Sunrise and Hawaiian Shores. The partridge and pear are made with Papertrey felt in Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores, Melon Berry, Spring Moss and Simply Chartreuse.

July Papertrey Bloghop

Hello and Welcome!

It's the 25th of the month which means it's time for the monthly blog hop with Papertrey Ink. The inspiration artwork this month is light and airy in shades of blue, white and a smidge of dark peach. Isn't it gorgeous?

In addition to the inspiration photo, I was inspired by a card designed by Nichole during the recent release using a die cut word repetitively as a background.

The background was created by die cutting hello from Wet Paint Cuts in Aqua Mist. The hello in the bottom right corner was layered theee times for additional dimension. The flowers are from Flower
Favorites and stamped in Melom Berry, Aqua Mist and Classic Kraft.  Everything is adheared to an Aqua Mist card base.

Make It Monday #289

Hello and Welcome to the Weekend!

This week on Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday video tutorial, Lizzie challenged us to make a wreath from small images.  It's rare I play along with these weekly challenges because my crafty time is mostly relegated to weekends and holidays only. And like a nifflers attraction to all things shiny, my attention turns to more recent challenges and projects by the time I'm able to get crafty. (Harry Potter fans will understand the reference to nifflers😁).

After watching the video on Monday, the idea of wreaths kept playing in my mind so there was a pretty good chance I would be participating in this weeks challenge. Instead of using small floral images, I was thinking about making a wreath made of greenery in a square shape. Something like this:

And during my daily (OK, hourly) scrolls through Instagram, there it was. A beautiful holiday wreath by Dana Kirby. Everything about her card is perfection and I will be casing it at a later date. Which brings me to the card below.

Multiple stamp sets were used to find snowflakes that were an appropriate size for the wreath. I used Fab Flakes, Quilted: Winter and Snowflake Sparkle and ink colors Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Lilac Grace, Plum Pudding, Winter Wisteria, Royal Velvet and Dark Indigo. The sentiment from Christmas Cheer is stamped in Royal Velvet. A little strip of Plum Pudding gingham on the side and everything attached to a Royal Velvet card base.

I will definitely be making more wreaths using small stamps in the future.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

June Papertrey Blog Hop

Hello once again, the 25th is upon us and it's time for the monthly Blog Hop with Papertrey Ink.

The inspiration photo this month is quite different than past photos, and I like it!  While it's still floral, it's also very minimalist. I chose to focus on the flow of color and how a small concentration of color fades out.

The flower outline from Especially You is heat embossed in gold. Using Lemon Tart ink and a blending tool, I worked the color from the center of the flower outward leaving the center with a  higher concentration of ink than the edges. The sentiment, also from Especially You, was die cut from True Black cardstock. The stamped panel was adhered to a True Black mat and attached to a Lemon Tart card base. Yellow sequins completed the card.

Coordinating Card Pairs

Hello, I hope you're enjoying the first weekend in June.

This week Stephanie challenged us to make a coordinated pair of cards. I love the inspiration Stephanie provided and actually made two pairs of coordinating cards by simply changing the colors.

The only stamp set used is Quilled Elegance. I love the funky font of the sentiments and the white embossing is so striking against the dark blue cardbase.

May Papertrey Blog Hop

Hello and Welcome!

I'm playing along with the monthly Blog Hop at Papertrey Ink. If I'm being honest, when I first saw the inspiration photo I was kinda ....ugh..... florals......again.

Now, I don't have anything against flowers but sometimes a girl just wants to branch out a bit. So, with that thought in mind, I decided to try using color inspiration from the photo but not flowers.  The artwork is very pretty. Soothing. Not bright and in your face. Colors that translate well for sympathy cards.  Unfortunately, we all need sympathy cards at one time or another. Looking at the design I see Ocean Tides, Melon Berry, Autumn Rose and Blueberry Sky.

For me, sympathy cards are a bit tricky. I certainly don't want anything cutesy but rather something that's more natural. Using the aforementioned colors, I played around with Spruce and Sprigs, Leaf Prints and Turning A New Leaf. Here's what I ended up with:

Yeah, that whole color inspiration without florals idea ..... total failure! I paired the florals from Bloomers with the leaves from Tropics. The ink colors are Melon Berry, Canyon Clay, Autumn Rose, Scarlet Jewel, Ocean Tides, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and True Black. I love the stamped panel all on it's own and would have been happy to attach it to a card base and be done but decided to fancy it up a bit.

The sentiment is from Botanical Blocks 2 and stamped on an Ocean Tides die cut from Double Ended Banners. The stamped panel and a layer of True Black cardstock are cut with Edgers #1 and layered on an Ocean Tides cardbase.

April Papertrey Blog Hop

Hello and Welcome!

Today I'm playing along with Papertrey Ink's monthly Blog Hop. For this month we have a floral design with a bit of a modern color combination of grey, light pink, orange and yellow.

The flowers from Bitty Bouquet were stamped with Harvest Gold, Orange Zest, Sweet Blush, Spring Moss, Olive Twist and Green Parakeet. The flowers were then layered on a Tag Sale Quilted Tag stamped with Background Basics Text Style in Charcoal Palate Ink. The sentiment is from Wet Paint 3 and stamped onto a Sweet Blush banner also cut from Tag Sale Quilted. The Sweet Blush cardbase is sponged with Sweet Blush ink and a stencil from Neat and Tangled.

I used flowers from Bloomers and leaves from Tropics. Because I was stamping on a dark background, I first stamped the images in white. Once the white ink dried, I went back and stamped with color.

PTI: Transformation

Wow, have you checked out all the goodies introduced the past 10 days at Papertrey Ink??  So many cute, beautiful, useful, fun, awe-inspiring eye candy I don't know how I'll choose when the new products hit the store tomorrow night.

There's one final challenge for the Anniversary countdown and it's to create a new project improving on one of your projects earlier in the festivities. I knew what I wanted to do the minute I read the challenge-I wanted to rework my Snowflake from the first day. It's not that I don't like the snowflake, it's just that it wasn't what I had in mind when I started.  This is what I started with:

And using inspiration from the new Flower Mandalas dies, this is what it transformed into:

Talk about a transformation LOL!  I still used the Snowflake Stitching die, but instead of felt it's cut from cardstock and layered with a few other dies to create a vibrant Birthday card. The layers from bottom to top are:  Lacey Circles (an old Spellbinders die), Tinsel and Tags, Stitched Snowflake, Fab Flakes, a smaller Lacey Circles, 2 more Fab Flakes layers and a leftover bit from the Cover Plate Circles. The small oval accent pieces are popped out from the Stitched Snowflake.

I die cut each of the pieces from Enchanted Evening, Raspberry Fizz and Limeade Ice cardstock so all the extra pieces allowed me to make several versions. The sentiment is from Stylish Sentiments Birthday. I want to note, even though I used dies I already own, I can not wait for the Flower Mandalas dies to be released. They will be the first thing in my cart tomorrow night.
