Let me begin by stating the inspiration photo this month is absolutely stunning. Yet, I had an unbelievably difficult time creating my card. I had an idea in mind, but when it came together it was kinda blah. It needed something. So I started deconstructing bit by bit till I didn't have anything left.  Then I looked at the photo again. Maybe I was trying to incorporate too much into the design. But I love the fern. And the vase. And the little frog. And...yeah, you see my problem.....  So I started over and ended up with this.

I'm gonna save that little frog idea for another day!

MIM: Customizing Pattern Paper

I don't usually participate in Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday projects.  The only play time I have is on the weekend and more often than not I just forget about making a project by Saturday. But this week, Make It Monday was delayed till Wednesday! (And I wrote it down in my planner so I wouldn't forget, lol).

This week Lizzie asked us to use our stamps to customize paper than already contains a pattern.  I used one of the patterned papers from Black and White that had tiny polka dots. Then I used one of the smallest rings from Dot Spots to encircle a few of the dots in Pure Poppy, New Leaf and Tropical Teal.

I love this idea for customizing paper!

PTI: Create Along With Us February

Okay, so I have one more project for this week. Papertrey Ink revealed their 2016 --Anniversary set today, Painted Petals. I LOVE this set and all the layers that can be used to build the flowers. My card is based on THIS card by Heather Nichols.

I used the frame from Art Deco and the Flower Favorites stamp set. The colors make me happy.  I sure hope Spring gets here soon!

PTI: Alphabet Challenge

Greetings friends,

One final project for the challenges at Papertrey Ink. Today's challenge is to use prompts that correspond to at least the first 3 letters in either your first or last name.

I ended up using the first 4 letters in my first name. My prompts are:
T-tie on some twine
E-incorporate an emboss resist technique
D-add detail with a white pen
R-round some or all corners

PTI: Thank You

Is everyone having a good weekend?  I'm spending some time catching up on the challenges at Papertrey Ink in celebration of their 9th Anniversary.

This challenge is to create a Thank You card for the warehouse crew at Papertrey Ink. This is a great way to let the staff know how apreciative we are for the hard work that goes into getting our orders picked, wrapped, boxed and shipped each month. Thank You to everyone at Papertrey!  Since I had all the supplies out, I made a second Thank You card as well.

I can never have enough ways to say Thank You!

PTI: Color Pop

Hi again!  So many challenges this week for Papertrey's 9th Anniversary - and I'm not finished yet. This challenge is to use a 'fortune teller' to determine the color scheme for your project. I don't have my printer hooked up so I wasn't able to print the display sheet, but I utilized the wonderful gals on the forum to figure out my fortune. Using the number 4 and my birthday month of September, my colors are Hibiscus Burst, Pure Poppy and Orange Zest. My neutral color is Smoky Shadow.

I used City Scene to build a little street scene. I am terrible at lining these buildings up and my street started going a bit uphill as well, lol!  Let's just pretend the street is in San Francisco shall we.

PTI: Altered Squares Sampler

Hello!

I have one more card to share for Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary celebration. This challenge is to showcase a variety of techniques all on one card. I wanted the card to have somewhat of a theme to tie all the techniques together. I immediately thought of the Tiny Treats stamp sets and decided to go with Birthday rather than Valentine.

The techniques used are:
1-Smooshing
2-Dry embossing
3-Paper piecing
4-Watercolor with ink
5-Ink blending
6-Copic coloring
7-Emboss resist
8-Color pencil highlight
9-Negative space coloring

I have to admit, this was easier than I thought it would be. I'm not a very 'technique-y' crafter. Clean and simple is more my style. This was the first time I've even tried most of these, and I think the emboss resist space ship is my favorite of the bunch!
