MIM: Masked Backgrounds

This weeks Make It Monday is all about creating a masked background. Click HERE for all the info and a video.

I used washi tape to create a frame around the card front and then used a few more strips of tape to create an area for the sentiment.

Ink blending is still a work in progress for me.  I just do not have the patience or saturated sponges to get a smooth blend line. (Patience grasshopper, patience). So I tried one more card which I kinda like!

Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

Hello......and welcome!

Today I'm sharing two cards I made for Papertrey's May blog hop. Click HERE to read all about the hop and how to join in on the fun!

This months inspiration photo was full of pastel Popsicles that screamed Summertime. Recently I was elbow deep in fresh strawberries straight from the farm so I used the strawberry from Fruit Fusion as the centerpiece of my Summertime fun card.

When I first caught a sneak of the inspiration piece, I had the idea to try sailboats with pastel masts so I thought I'd give that a go as well. The wave background is blended using the new stencils and three shades of blue. The sailboat is from Ahoy.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the hop!

PTI: Create Along With Us

Hi and welcome back. I had a little time to make a tag inspired by Heather Nichol's birthday cupcake cards HERE.  I thought I'd try to create my own frosted cupcake.

I used Art Deco to create the frosting, Enclosed: Cupcake for the cupcake base and wrapper. The cupcake is popped up on top of a Quilted tag with a little Fancy Flourishes in the background.

My Grandmother is celebrating her 95th Birthday on Easter Sunday and her favorite color is purple so this tag is destined for her gift. Hope she likes it!

MIM: Ombré Backgrounds

I found a little time to play around with ink blending and stencils. When Papertrey Ink released three stencil backgrounds during their last release, I was pretty sure I would love using them on projects.  It's so easy and adds just that right 'something' to the background without adding bulk.

This week, Betsy challenged us to create an ombré background and add a stenciled pattern. I started with Lavender Moon, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and Enchanted Evening inks. Once the colors were blended together, I laid one of the new stencils over the card front and went over the entire card again to create the background pattern. I can't wait to try out the two others patterns!

Papertrey February Blog Hop Challenge

It's time for Papertrey's February blog hop!   You can read all about it by clicking Here

Let me begin by stating the inspiration photo this month is absolutely stunning. Yet, I had an unbelievably difficult time creating my card. I had an idea in mind, but when it came together it was kinda blah. It needed something. So I started deconstructing bit by bit till I didn't have anything left.  Then I looked at the photo again. Maybe I was trying to incorporate too much into the design. But I love the fern. And the vase. And the little frog. And...yeah, you see my problem.....  So I started over and ended up with this.

I'm gonna save that little frog idea for another day!

MIM: Customizing Pattern Paper

I don't usually participate in Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday projects.  The only play time I have is on the weekend and more often than not I just forget about making a project by Saturday. But this week, Make It Monday was delayed till Wednesday! (And I wrote it down in my planner so I wouldn't forget, lol).

This week Lizzie asked us to use our stamps to customize paper than already contains a pattern.  I used one of the patterned papers from Black and White that had tiny polka dots. Then I used one of the smallest rings from Dot Spots to encircle a few of the dots in Pure Poppy, New Leaf and Tropical Teal.

I love this idea for customizing paper!

PTI: Create Along With Us February

Okay, so I have one more project for this week. Papertrey Ink revealed their 2016 --Anniversary set today, Painted Petals. I LOVE this set and all the layers that can be used to build the flowers. My card is based on THIS card by Heather Nichols.

I used the frame from Art Deco and the Flower Favorites stamp set. The colors make me happy.  I sure hope Spring gets here soon!
