Papertrey June Blog Hop Challenge

Hello and welcome!

Today I'm playing along with Papertrey Ink's monthly blog hop. The inspiration photo for this months hop is full of color. Click HERE to go to Nicole's blog to see the photo, get the details on how you can join the fun and see the projects.

I started with a card base inked with one of the Modern Background Stencils. Then I pulled several of the brighter colors from the underwater scene and created a floral cluster using the Doodlie Do stamp set and Copic markers.

I'm off to hop around and see what everyone has created and read the details for Stamp A Faire. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Create Along With Us - June

Hi everyone! Just stopping by to share a card made for this month's Create Along With Us for Papertrey Ink.

I have to make this short and sweet. I've been having terrible internet connection issues for the past week. Mediacom has been to the house twice and it's still not working right. Frustrated doesn't even begin to describe what I'm feeling 😁.

So while I have a decent connection, this is the card I made inspired by Laurie Willison. I'm always drawn to her projects and this month was no exception. You can find Laurie's card HERE.

MIM: Gradient Watercolor

Hello and welcome!

I'm playing along with Make It Monday from Papertrey Ink. This week Dawn challenged us to use watercolor and dies to create a gradient background. You can view her video and check out all the details HERE.

I absolutely loved this technique.

I had an idea to try to make a similar card  except instead of gradient colors use red, white and blue. Instead of watercolors, I busted out some spray mists. I can't even remember the last time I used these, but I thought I'd give it a whirl. I waited till the red and blue dried completely before spraying white in the middle.

In other news, I was browsing the Internet yesterday and made two amazing discoveries. First, the Daily Marker Challenge is starting up again in July.  The challenge is to color a little bit each day for 30 days , even if it's only 5 minutes. Here's the link to the blog The Daily Marker. Click on the Coloring Challenge link to see posts from previous challenges and keep checking the blog for upcoming details.

My second discovery, is the website Online Card Classes. Here's the link to their site. Online Card Classes. Yes, they have independent classes you can purchase but I found a section called Crafty Chat where they've posted interview chat's with some amazing ladies. There are seven chat's currently posted and I've only watched two and a half and I'm loving them. The first chat is with Laura Bassen. I loved Laura's cards when she was on Papertrey's design team. Bit of a warning, these video chat's are LONG. They aren't tutorials though so you can do other things while just listening. I had the episode playing on my iPad while I made the cards above. I don't usually have any music or tv/movie playing in the background while I work so this was a nice change of pace. Here's a link to the first crafty chat with Laura if you want to check it out Crafty Chat with Laura.

That's it for me,  have a great week!

MIM: Masked Backgrounds

This weeks Make It Monday is all about creating a masked background. Click HERE for all the info and a video.

I used washi tape to create a frame around the card front and then used a few more strips of tape to create an area for the sentiment.

Ink blending is still a work in progress for me.  I just do not have the patience or saturated sponges to get a smooth blend line. (Patience grasshopper, patience). So I tried one more card which I kinda like!

Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

Hello......and welcome!

Today I'm sharing two cards I made for Papertrey's May blog hop. Click HERE to read all about the hop and how to join in on the fun!

This months inspiration photo was full of pastel Popsicles that screamed Summertime. Recently I was elbow deep in fresh strawberries straight from the farm so I used the strawberry from Fruit Fusion as the centerpiece of my Summertime fun card.

When I first caught a sneak of the inspiration piece, I had the idea to try sailboats with pastel masts so I thought I'd give that a go as well. The wave background is blended using the new stencils and three shades of blue. The sailboat is from Ahoy.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the hop!

PTI: Create Along With Us

Hi and welcome back. I had a little time to make a tag inspired by Heather Nichol's birthday cupcake cards HERE.  I thought I'd try to create my own frosted cupcake.

I used Art Deco to create the frosting, Enclosed: Cupcake for the cupcake base and wrapper. The cupcake is popped up on top of a Quilted tag with a little Fancy Flourishes in the background.

My Grandmother is celebrating her 95th Birthday on Easter Sunday and her favorite color is purple so this tag is destined for her gift. Hope she likes it!

MIM: Ombré Backgrounds

I found a little time to play around with ink blending and stencils. When Papertrey Ink released three stencil backgrounds during their last release, I was pretty sure I would love using them on projects.  It's so easy and adds just that right 'something' to the background without adding bulk.

This week, Betsy challenged us to create an ombré background and add a stenciled pattern. I started with Lavender Moon, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky and Enchanted Evening inks. Once the colors were blended together, I laid one of the new stencils over the card front and went over the entire card again to create the background pattern. I can't wait to try out the two others patterns!
