MIM: Gradient Watercolor

Hello and welcome!

I'm playing along with Make It Monday from Papertrey Ink. This week Dawn challenged us to use watercolor and dies to create a gradient background. You can view her video and check out all the details HERE.

I absolutely loved this technique.

I had an idea to try to make a similar card  except instead of gradient colors use red, white and blue. Instead of watercolors, I busted out some spray mists. I can't even remember the last time I used these, but I thought I'd give it a whirl. I waited till the red and blue dried completely before spraying white in the middle.

In other news, I was browsing the Internet yesterday and made two amazing discoveries. First, the Daily Marker Challenge is starting up again in July.  The challenge is to color a little bit each day for 30 days , even if it's only 5 minutes. Here's the link to the blog The Daily Marker. Click on the Coloring Challenge link to see posts from previous challenges and keep checking the blog for upcoming details.

My second discovery, is the website Online Card Classes. Here's the link to their site. Online Card Classes. Yes, they have independent classes you can purchase but I found a section called Crafty Chat where they've posted interview chat's with some amazing ladies. There are seven chat's currently posted and I've only watched two and a half and I'm loving them. The first chat is with Laura Bassen. I loved Laura's cards when she was on Papertrey's design team. Bit of a warning, these video chat's are LONG. They aren't tutorials though so you can do other things while just listening. I had the episode playing on my iPad while I made the cards above. I don't usually have any music or tv/movie playing in the background while I work so this was a nice change of pace. Here's a link to the first crafty chat with Laura if you want to check it out Crafty Chat with Laura.

That's it for me,  have a great week!

  1. Wow, you've been busy! All three cards are nice but my favorite is the father's day card! Love the colors on that one and the use of the Star Scribbles set.
