Easter 2011

The challenge for day 13 at Apron Strings is use your oldest kit with the scariest (to you) embellishment in it and combine it with a new embellishment or paper that has no "scare factor."  Didn't even have to think about that one.  Hands down, sewing on my pages is scary.  I bought a few colors of thread, a needle and a couple of the changeable heads to the Sew Easy product line last November but haven't really used them.  I did break them out for one of the layouts earlier this month but I think I only made somewhere around 8 stitches and I definitely didn't find it 'Easy'!  This time I was determined to sew something that would have an impact on the page.

I hand sketched a swirly (don't know what else to call it) onto copy paper.  Then I laid the copy paper on top of my cardstock and used a paper piercer to trace the swirly.  I tried to make each hole approximately 1/4 inch apart.  I did this three times on each page and then used colored floss to string the holes together.  I think it worked out pretty well.  It's a little time consuming, but a least I'm not scared of the sewing anymore!  As for the non-scare embellishment, that would be the foam letters.  Papers used were Echo Park's Sweet Summertime from the September 2010 kit.

Should have my camera back tomorrow so this is the last day of oddly colored, blurry pics.

  1. Wow! When you tackle your fears you really go all out! Good job on those swirls. Sewing is one of my least favourite things to do on layouts but I do love the look.
